Hunting has been a part of the human experience since the dawn of humanity, when we used it to supply our early selves with protein, furs, and weapons with which to survive. As humans got older and more experienced, hunting continued to be a rite of passage and a sport for those with means, even though it was less and less needed for sustenance (though, to this very day, there are still places that hunt for survival). Nowadays, hunting is done mostly for sport and for fun, though the fact that meat can be harvested is always a bonus. Throughout the history of hunting, it has almost always been men taking up weapons and ending lives. Now, it seems as though that’s changing.
It turns out that more and more women are hunting, for a variety of reasons. Women are beginning to enjoy hunting not only for actual sport itself, but also because there is a heavy relationship aspect to it. Many women are seeing hunting as just one more activity to take part in with friends and loved ones. While the numbers haven’t overtaken men who hunt, they’re big enough to start getting attention and are showing the world that hunting isn’t just for men anymore. These women are showing that hunting can be for anyone and that it’s a great way to bond as a family.
